The Game Maker’s Union would like to thank you all for another fun school year. This year we accomplished a lot! We ran a workshop on making mobile/web games using Stencyl. We ran a 3 week workshop series that included character design taught by Danik Tomyn, 2-D sprite design taught by Jordan Sparks, and game design taught by Dante Camerena which culminated in a 2-D platformer.
Second semester we decided to focus on HastySketch, a single game created as a group. Our own Jordan Sparks showed his game Who Are You? at the New Media year end gallery. We ran our second Checkpoint event hosted by Jordan Sparks with talks from Cecily Carver, Ryan Henson Creighton, and Jim McGinley. We also got the opportunity to show Zack Harris’ and Dante Camerena’s game engine Orbit as well as Jordan’s game at Level Up Showcase. And at the RSU’s End of Year Gala we took home the third place prize for Outstanding Display Award at campus club day as well as the awards for Best Membership Engagement and Best Education Events – Student Group.
Thank you to all of this year’s hard working execs, our guest speakers, and all the members that came out to a meeting for making this year such a success. Here’s to a great summer and an even better year next year.
